Gathering information = Methodology
How did you collect the information and How did you Record it?

• a brief description of the main gathering methods used
• instruments used to make measurements
• recording of information in the field
• use of surveys, questionnaires
• use of secondary sources
• a discussion of the problems encountered.

Start by listing the action words....verbs that explain what you did.
We photographed, sketched, measured, paced,etc...

Where did you record the information? on a data sheet, on the questionnaire, in a list?
Describe the instruments that you used...had you used them before? Did you have any problem using them? Compass, trundle wheel,viewfinder, anemometer. Did you work in pairs, on your own?
What did you record from the notice boards? Why did you do this?

I did this in this way because I wanted to find out.....

DO NOT include any of the information that you find out.
You may include samples of how you recorded the information, draw the instruments and include a map of where you carried out your study.

What are the criteria for a Blue Flag Beach?
A summary outline can be found on the Blue Flag website where you can also download the full explanation of the criteria in pdf format.
An Taisce are the agency responsible for monitoring Blue Flag beaches in Ireland. Full details can be found here.
Only Counsellor's Strand in Dunmore East and Clonea made it on to the 2008 list.

What is the Clean Coast project? On this website, you will find a useful website where you can find information on Woodstown. It deals with both Coastcare and the Green Coast Award. It is a joint project between An Taisce and Keep Wales Tidy. Check on the interactive map.
